Peter Asher has transitioned from a pop music vocal duo member to a highly successful manager and record producer, fostering the careers of numerous iconic artists. After achieving global success with the pop music vocal duo Peter and Gordon, Peter Asher transitioned into a highly influential career as a manager and record producer, fostering the careers of numerous iconic artists. Asher’s early exposure to the entertainment industry, including appearances in films like ‘The Planter’s Wife’ (1952) and ‘Escapade’ (1955), laid a foundational understanding of performance and production. In 1962, he co-founded Peter and Gordon, whose debut single, the Lennon/McCartney-penned ‘A World Without Love’ (1964), became a global hit, launching a successful music career that generated nine Top 20 records.

During this period, Asher also managed the country rock band Country in the early 1970s and opened the renowned Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood in 1973, further cementing his impact on the music scene. In 1976, he briefly reunited with Gordon Waller for a performance at the annual New York ‘Beatlefest.’ Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Asher continued to produce hit albums for a diverse roster of artists, including Cher, 10,000 Maniacs, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, and Ringo Starr. His executive leadership expanded in 1995 when he was named Senior Vice-President of Sony Music Entertainment, a position he held until 2002. Returning to artist management full-time, he became co-President of Sanctuary Artist Management in 2002 and was later appointed President in 2005.

In 2018, Asher began touring alongside Jeremy Clyde in the duo Peter and Jeremy, a partnership that continues to date. He further shared his extensive knowledge with the publication of his book ‘The Beatles from A to Zed’ in 2019, reflecting a career spanning over six decades and influencing popular music across multiple continents.
