Pietro Radassao is an Italian sport climber known for his contributions to the climbing community through developing new routes, particularly in the Frosolone area of Molise. He has established over 100 routes, with a focus on high-difficulty sport climbs. His career includes multiple first ascents (FAs) of routes graded 8c+ and 9a, which are among the hardest sport climbing grades. Radassao’s work has helped to place Frosolone on the map as a significant climbing destination in Southern Italy.
His climbing progression shows a commitment to pushing boundaries. In 2015, he completed his first 8c, ‘Ultimo Viaggio con Caronte’, at Frosolone. This was followed by ‘Iron Moon’ in August 2017, a route graded 8c+/9a, which was later confirmed by another climber. In September 2018, he achieved the first ascent of ‘Re Kaioh’, a connection of existing routes in Frosolone, with a proposed grade of 8c+.
Radassao continued his development in climbing with the first ascent of ‘Ultra Istinto’, a 9a route in Oratino, in February 2021. In July 2022, he completed ‘La Terza Via’, his second 9a first ascent, also in Frosolone. These achievements demonstrate his consistent performance at an elite level within the sport climbing discipline.
