Recently taking gold medals in several events including the Asian Championships, Kokoro Fujii is a professional sport climber from Japan. He frequently finishes near the top of the field in international IFSC events and is recognized as one of the best climbers in the world.
Born on 30 November, 1992, Fujii is originally from Hamamatsu. Now based in Tokyo, he started climbing in 2005 and first participated in junior level events in 2010. He then made his debut in the IFSC World Cup in 2012, participating in both lead and bouldering events. In 2016, he finished first in World Cup events in both Navi Mumbai, India and Vail, Colorado. He’s continued to see success in IFSC competitions, and also often competes in the Asian Continental Championships and the Asia Cup. He had a particularly memorable year at the Asian Championships in 2019, taking second in bouldering and first in the lead climbing competitions. He also finished first at the Combined Qualifier in Toulouse, France.
Fujii has been featured on Adidas’ website multiple times and is a proud member of the Japan Mountaineering & Sport Climbing Association. He cites Austrian climber Killian Fischhuber as one of his influences and is known for his remarkable focus, strength, and dedication. He is one of the most popular sport climbers in both Japan and the entire world.
