Polish Club are an Australian garage rock duo whose most recent album, 2021’s Now We’re Cookin’, has been their most successful to date, reaching number eight in the Australian charts. Their 2017 debut album, 2017’s Alright Already, reached the Top 20 and was nominated for Best Rock Album at that year’s prestigious ARIA Awards. Among their biggest hits to date is ‘Clarity’ from their 2019 album, Iguana, which has been streamed 5 million times on Spotify alone.
Polish Club are singer and guitarist David Novak and drummer John-Henry Pajak. They formed in Sydney in 2014 and self-released their eponymous debut EP in October of the following year. Along with a couple of non-album singles, this landed them a major record deal, and their award-nominated debut album was released through Universal Music Australia in April 2017. Before the year was out, they had also released another EP, Okie Dokie. Further non-album singles followed, including a Christmas track, ‘I Hate You But You Gotta Stay (On Christmas Day)’ and a cover of Savage Garden’s iconic 1990s pop track, ‘Truly Madly Deeply’.
In June 2019, the band released their second album, Iguana, which made the Australian Top 20 like its predecessor. They also released a third EP, Nye_2020_megamix.exe. The following year, ‘Clarity’ was nominated for the Most Performed Rock Work of the Year Award at the APRA Awards. After a career interruption by the pandemic, they returned in August 2021 with Now We’re Cookin’, which provided them with their biggest chart success to date.
