Rachel Fattal

Rachel Fattal, born on December 10, 1993, in Seal Beach, California, began her water polo career early, attending Los Alamitos High School where she was a four-year varsity letter winner in water polo, swimming, and volleyball. She distinguished herself as the 2012 CIF Division I Player of the Year and the 2011-12 Sunset League Female Athlete of the Year. Her talent led her to UCLA, where she majored in history and competed for the Bruins’ women’s water polo team. During her collegiate career, she earned four First Team All-American selections and was named MPSF Newcomer of the Year in 2013. She redshirted the 2016 season to train with the U.S. National Team for the Olympic Games.

Fattal’s international career with the U.S. Women’s Senior National Team is extensive and highly decorated. She joined the team after an MVP performance at the 2013 FINA Junior World Championships. Her contributions played a significant role in numerous gold medal victories, including two Olympic Games in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro) and 2020 (Tokyo, held in 2021 due to the pandemic), and five World Aquatics Championships in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024. She was also recognized as the Most Valuable Player at the 2015 FINA World Championships, where she led Team USA to a gold medal with 18 goals. Fattal consistently ranks among the top scorers in major international tournaments, demonstrating her attacking prowess and consistent performance.

Throughout her career, Fattal has been a consistent offensive force, known for her powerful outside shot. She has played a critical role in Team USA’s dominance in women’s water polo over the last decade, securing numerous international titles. Her leadership extends beyond the pool, reflecting a commitment to excellence and teamwork evident in her extensive list of achievements and consistent participation in elite-level competitions.
