Lakshya Sen

Lakshya Sen was born on August 16, 2001, in Almora, Uttarakhand, India. His family, deeply rooted in badminton with his grandfather and father also being players, relocated to Bangalore to support his career. Sen began his formal training at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy at a young age, showcasing early promise. His junior career was marked by significant achievements, including winning the Swiss Junior International in 2014 and a bronze medal at the Junior Asian Championship in 2016.

Sen’s talent led him to become the World Junior No. 1 in February 2017. He continued to accumulate accolades, notably becoming the Asian Junior Champion in 2018 after defeating Kunlavut Vitidsarn. That same year, he earned a silver medal in the boys’ singles at the Youth Olympics and contributed to team Alpha’s gold medal in the mixed team event. His transition to the senior circuit saw him secure multiple BWF Tour titles, including the Dutch Open and SaarLorLux Open in 2019, and the Scottish Open in the same year, demonstrating consistent career progression.

His senior career has been highlighted by several milestones, including a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships. In 2022, Sen was instrumental in India’s historic Thomas Cup victory and achieved a gold medal in men’s singles at the Commonwealth Games. The 2023 season saw him clinch the Canada Open title and a silver medal at the Asian Games with the men’s team. In 2024, he finished fourth at the Paris Olympics, representing the best-ever performance by an Indian male badminton player, and later won the Syed Modi International title, further cementing his position as a prominent figure in international badminton.
