About

Maurice Williams, known professionally as Reese LaFlare, was born on September 8, 1987, in Birmingham, Alabama. He began his music career in 2011, making his debut with the mixtape “Reese Vs the World,” produced by Don Cannon. This was followed by “Reese Vs the World 2” in 2012, also hosted by Cannon. During this period, LaFlare co-founded the hip-hop collective Two-9 with KEY! and Curtis Williams. The group played a role in shaping the early sound of Atlanta’s trap music, incorporating elements of modern rap alongside influences from artists like UGK and Three 6 Mafia. His trajectory has expanded beyond music, as he has also created his own high-end streetwear brand, Diva in the USA.

After leaving Two-9 in 2014 due to creative differences, LaFlare maintained a consistent release schedule. He released mixtapes such as “DSNRTRAPN2” (2015) and “Before the Universe” (2016), in addition to EPs like “Jump Off the Building” (2015) and “The TRL EP.” These projects allowed him to integrate new stylistic elements, including Auto-Tune, further developing his vocal approach. His self-titled debut album, “Reese LaFlare,” was released in 2018 through Empire Records, featuring collaborations with artists such as Young Thug and Pusha T. The album showcased his adaptability within the modern trap landscape, with tracks like “No Cap” and “Escalators.” His 2019 sophomore album, “Final Fantasy,” saw him exploring R&B sounds in songs like “Masquerade” and “Creep.” In 2020, LaFlare launched his clothing line, Diva in the USA, concurrently releasing “Diva, Vol. 1,” “Diva, Vol. 2,” and “Diva, Vol. 3” EPs.

LaFlare has engaged in collaborations with a variety of notable artists across his career. His work features on Trippie Redd’s “Forever Ever” alongside Young Thug (2018) and “Costa Rica” from J. Cole’s “Revenge of the Dreamers III” (2019), which included artists like Guapdad 4000 and Jace. Other significant collaborations include “Money Phone” with Offset (2017) and “Big Mad” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Vory (2018). He has also worked with Gunna on “Drip Like That” (2018) and Benny the Butcher on “No Hook” (2020). LaFlare continues to release new singles, such as “Count Up” (2024), demonstrating ongoing activity in the music industry.
