Reinier “Jesus” Carvalho, born on January 19, 2002, in Brasília, Brazil, began his football career in the youth academies of several prominent Brazilian clubs. The son of former futsal player Mauro Brasília, Reinier started at Vasco da Gama in 2011, then moved to Botafogo (2011–2012) and Fluminense (2012–2013) before joining Flamengo’s academy in 2014. His early career development in these youth systems laid the foundation for his professional debut with Flamengo’s senior team. He made his senior debut on July 31, 2019, during a Copa Libertadores match, and his league debut shortly after on August 4 against Bahia. In November 2019, Reinier extended his contract with Flamengo until 2024, with a release clause set at €35 million, reflecting his rising profile in Brazilian football.
In January 2020, Reinier made a significant move to European football, signing a contract with La Liga giants Real Madrid until June 2026 for approximately €30 million. Initially assigned to Real Madrid Castilla, their reserve team, he scored his first goal for them in March 2020. His time at Real Madrid saw several loan spells to gain experience, starting with a two-year loan to Borussia Dortmund from August 2020 to June 2022. He scored his first goal for Dortmund in February 2021. Following this, he was loaned to Girona in August 2022, scoring his first La Liga goal in September 2022. From September 2023 to May 2024, Reinier played on loan for Italian Serie A club Frosinone, where he made 22 appearances and scored 2 goals in Serie A, along with one goal in the Coppa Italia. In August 2024, he was loaned to Granada in Spain’s Segunda División. On August 8, 2025, Reinier made a permanent move to Clube Atlético Mineiro in Brazil, signing a contract until December 2029.
