Richie Burnett is a professional darts player whose career spans BDO and PDC circuits, marked by a BDO World Championship title and numerous other tournament victories. After winning the WDF Europe Cup Teams in 1988, Richie Burnett went on to establish a formidable presence across both BDO and PDC professional darts circuits, earning the moniker ‘The Prince of Wales’. Burnett gained prominence during a pivotal era in darts, securing multiple BDO titles in 1994, including the Dutch Open, Welsh Open, British Matchplay, and Denmark Open. His early career success culminated in winning the prestigious Winmau World Masters in 1994, followed by a remarkable victory at the 1995 BDO World Darts Championship in his debut year, where he triumphed over Raymond van Barneveld with a 63 sets score.
After an 18-month competitive ban, Burnett made a strong comeback to professional darts in May 2016, swiftly winning two PDC Challenge Tour tournaments (CT 11 Milton Keynes and CT 14 Wigan). He successfully regained his PDC Tour Card in 2017. Demonstrating his enduring talent and competitive spirit, Burnett reached the quarter-finals of the 2023 UK Open, notably defeating world number two Peter Wright. He continued his winning momentum into 2024, securing another PDC Challenge Tour title (CT 01 Milton Keynes) in the same year, solidifying his ongoing presence at the elite level of darts.
