Romi Bean

Romi Bean began her career at CBS News Colorado covering the Denver Broncos on a part-time basis. This early experience allowed her to develop skills in anchoring sportscasts, crafting compelling narratives, and engaging with the Colorado community. After dedicating two years to this part-time role, Romi secured a full-time position as the Weekend Sports Anchor in 2018. Her consistent performance and dedication led to her promotion in January 2023, when she was named CBS Colorado’s lead Sports Anchor. This appointment marked a significant milestone, as she became the first woman to hold a main sports anchor position in Denver TV history.

In 2022, Romi Bean was recognized for her contributions to sports journalism, being named the co-Colorado Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association. Her coverage that year included significant events such as the Colorado Avalanche’s Stanley Cup Championship, the University of Denver men’s hockey National Championship, and Nikola Jokic’s consecutive MVP runs. She also provided in-depth reporting on the hiring and subsequent firing of Nathaniel Hackett, the trade involving Russell Wilson, and the Broncos’ trip to London. Her work demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of Colorado sports and a commitment to delivering impactful stories to viewers.

Born in South Africa, Romi moved to Colorado at the age of two. She is an alumna of Cherry Creek High School and the University of Colorado. In 2024, Romi was honored with a Gracie Award, which acknowledges outstanding work created by, for, and about women. Throughout her career, she has consistently emphasized the importance of connecting with sports fans and fostering relationships within the athletic community, often stating that sports is not just a job but her life.
