About

Ron Diaz was born around 1955. He began his radio career as a rock radio host. His work in this area led to syndication. In 1987, Diaz partnered with Ron Bennington to create “The Ron & Ron Show” at Tampa Bay’s WYNF-FM. This show achieved significant ratings success. The duo, known as “Radio’s Bad Boys,” established The Ron & Ron Radio Network to own and syndicate their programming. The show expanded to encompass markets such as Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Diaz announced his departure from “The Ron & Ron Show” in early 1997, and the program concluded on September 29, 1997, after an 11-year run.

Following his departure from “The Ron & Ron Show” in 1997, Diaz joined Clear Channel Radio’s Classic Rock station WTBT-FM (Thunder 103.5) to launch “The Ron Diaz Show.” In 2003, he transitioned to sports talk radio at WDAE (620 AM and 95.3 FM) in Tampa, Florida. He partnered with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Ian Beckles to host “The Ron & Ian Show” for 12 years. After Beckles’ departure in 2015, Diaz hosted “The Ron & JP Show” with JP Peterson from 2016 to 2018. “The Ron & Ian Show” returned on November 26, 2018, with Diaz and Beckles resuming their on-air partnership. Diaz retired from radio in December 2020, ending his four-decade career at WDAE. Throughout his career, Diaz consistently conducted thorough research for his shows and engaged with loyal listeners who remembered conversations from years past.

Beyond his radio career, Diaz has focused on helping others with addiction recovery, being sober for over a decade himself.
