Rondae Jaquan Hollis-Jefferson was born on January 3, 1995, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He developed his basketball skills early, often focusing on defense, and attended Chester High School where he achieved significant success, leading his team to a 91–5 record and two state titles in his final three years. He concluded his high school career with over 1,000 points and a school-record 780 rebounds, earning recognition as the Delaware County Player of the Year multiple times. He was also a McDonald’s All-American in 2013, solidifying his status as a top high school prospect. He subsequently committed to the University of Arizona, where he continued to build his collegiate career.
Hollis-Jefferson played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats from 2013 to 2015. During his freshman year, he contributed as a scorer, rebounder, and shot-blocker, earning a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. He improved significantly in his sophomore season, increasing his averages to 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. His performance earned him First-team All-Pac-12 honors and a place on the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team in 2015. After two seasons, he declared for the NBA draft. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft and was then traded to the Brooklyn Nets, marking the beginning of his professional NBA career.
Throughout his NBA tenure, Hollis-Jefferson played for the Brooklyn Nets (2015–2019), Toronto Raptors (2019–2020), and Portland Trail Blazers (2021), demonstrating his versatility as a forward. His career progression led him to international play, where he achieved notable success in various leagues. He has won three PBA championships and has been named PBA Best Import of the Conference three times with the TNT Tropang Giga and Meralco Bolts. His adaptability and consistent performance have allowed him to maintain a relevant presence in professional basketball, both domestically and abroad, eventually becoming a naturalized Jordanian citizen and representing Jordan in international competitions like the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
