Roxanne McKee

Roxanne McKee, born on August 10, 1980, in Canada to Irish parents with Scottish ancestry, completed a BA degree in Social Policy & Political Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2005. Before her acting career, she held various jobs, including waitress, recruitment consultant, and human resources roles. She did not attend drama school, instead landing her breakthrough role through an open casting call. In 2004, McKee auditioned for the role of Louise Summers in the British soap opera “Hollyoaks” as part of a nationwide search. Selected from over 35,000 applicants, she began portraying Louise in 2005, a role she maintained until 2008. Her portrayal earned her significant recognition, including winning ‘Sexiest Female’ at The British Soap Awards in 2007 and 2008, and at the Inside Soap Awards in the same years. Following her departure from “Hollyoaks,” McKee consciously sought out diverse and challenging roles.

Her career expanded to include roles in “Lip Service” for the BBC in 2010 and the feature film “Ironclad: Battle for Blood.” She became widely recognized for her role as Doreah in HBO’s fantasy drama series “Game of Thrones” from 2011 to 2012, based on George R.R. Martin’s novels. This role led to a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards with her cast members. In 2012, she appeared in the horror sequel “Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines.” McKee also took on the role of Queen Alcmene in “The Legend of Hercules” in 2014. From 2014 to 2015, she starred as Lady Claire Riesen in the Syfy apocalyptic supernatural series “Dominion.” Later, she played Captain Natalie Reynolds in the action television series “Strike Back: Retribution” from 2017 to 2018. More recently, she was seen as Amanda Eastman in “Picture Perfect Royal Christmas” (2020), Eve in “Pandora” (2020), Nancy Williams in “The Admirer” (2023), and Xana in the 2025 horror film “Bambi: The Reckoning.”

McKee’s acting work spans across various genres, demonstrating versatility in her performances. Beyond acting, McKee is passionate about fitness and nutrition and has engaged in rock climbing as a hobby. As of 2011, she also co-owned a nightclub in Leeds. On August 12, 2025, it was announced that McKee was expecting her first child. Her career illustrates a consistent progression in the entertainment industry, taking on diverse character roles across television and film productions.
