Rudi Ellis was born on August 13, 1997, in Sydney, NSW. She played her junior netball at Ku-Ring-Gai Netball. Ellis began her professional netball journey gaining experience as an extended squad member with the NSW Swifts in 2017 and subsequently with the Melbourne Vixens in 2018 and 2019. During these early years, she also achieved success in the Australian Netball League, becoming a premiership player with the Victorian Fury.
Ellis made her National League debut in 2020 after relocating from Melbourne to join the Queensland Firebirds. During her time with the Firebirds in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, she solidified her position as a defender. In the 2021 season, she recorded 24 deflections, 8 intercepts, and 4 rebounds. Her performance led to her selection in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad. Following her tenure with the Firebirds, Ellis moved to the West Coast Fever for the 2022 and 2023 Suncorp Super Netball seasons. Her decision to move west was driven by a desire to learn from experienced players like goal keeper Courtney Bruce.
In 2024, Rudi Ellis returned to Victoria, rejoining the Melbourne Vixens. Throughout her career, Ellis has demonstrated consistent effort and defensive skill on the court. Alongside her netball career, she has pursued academic achievements, completing a Bachelor of Professional Communications with a major in Journalism through RMIT. This academic background has also led to roles in sports media, including working with the Western Bulldogs AFLW media team and the Firebirds’ media team.
