About

Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born on October 23, 1976, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the youngest of four children. His father, James Chester Reynolds, worked as a food wholesaler, and his mother, Tamara Lee (Stewart), was a retail-store saleswoman. Between 1991 and 1993, Reynolds appeared in the Nickelodeon series “Fifteen” (also known as “Hillside”), taped in Florida. After the series concluded, he returned to Vancouver, taking on roles in television movies. Feeling discouraged with his career path, Reynolds briefly considered quitting acting. However, a chance encounter with fellow actor Chris William Martin led him to relocate to Los Angeles.

In 1997, Reynolds secured the role of Berg in the sitcom “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” (1998–2001). Although initially facing critical skepticism, the show found success and helped launch Reynolds into further film roles. A notable early film included “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” (2002), which, despite critical panning, achieved commercial success. He continued to gain recognition through roles in romantic comedies like “The Proposal” (2009) and action films such as “Blade: Trinity” (2004) and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (2009).

Reynolds’ career saw a significant turning point with his portrayal of the titular character in “Deadpool” (2016). This role, which he had been involved with developing since 2005, brought him widespread critical and commercial success, earning him a Golden Globe nomination. He reprised this role in “Deadpool 2” (2018) and “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024), further solidifying his status. Beyond acting and producing, Reynolds is an active entrepreneur with investments in companies like Aviation American Gin, Mint Mobile, and the Welsh soccer club Wrexham A.F.C., showcasing his involvement in various industries.
