Sean Bailey

Sean Bailey has established himself as a prominent figure in the climbing world, known for his achievements in competition climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering. After securing victory in both the USA Climbing Sport Climbing Series Youth National Championship and the American Bouldering Series in 2013, Sean Bailey swiftly established himself as a prominent figure in the climbing world. These early successes underscored his potential across competition climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering. He continued his ascent by winning the USA Climbing Lead National Championship in 2016 and followed with his first significant outdoor ascent, redpointing Chris Sharma’s ‘Realization/Biographie’ (5.15a) in Céüse, France, in the same year.

Bailey has consistently achieved high-level placements in international competitions, earning five IFSC World Cup podium finishes. His international accolades include a first-place finish in bouldering at Salt Lake City in 2021, alongside two gold medals in lead climbing at Villars and Chamonix, both in 2021. Earlier in his career, he secured a silver medal at the IFSC World Cup Vail in 2018 and later a bronze in lead at Chamonix in 2022. During this period, he also claimed the USA Climbing Lead National Championship for a second time in 2018 and won the Bouldering Nationals in 2019, further demonstrating his versatility.

In 2023, he earned a silver medal in both boulder and lead disciplines at the Pan American Games Santiago. Most recently, in 2024, Bailey achieved the groundbreaking first ascent of ‘Shaolin’ (V17) in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada, making it one of only three V17 ascents in the United States at the time and further cementing his position at the forefront of global climbing.
