About

Sean Gunn, born on May 22, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri, established his acting career across various film and television productions, beginning in the mid-1990s. After graduating from The Theatre School at DePaul University in 1996, he entered the entertainment industry. Early in his career, Gunn took on roles in independent films like “Tromeo and Juliet” (1996) and “The Specials” (2000), for which he also received a co-producer credit. His consistent work in television followed, with guest appearances in shows such as “Angel” (1999–2000) and “3rd Rock from the Sun” (2001).

Gunn gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Kirk Gleason in “Gilmore Girls,” a role he began in 2000 as Mick and evolved into a regular cast member from 2002 until the series concluded in 2007. He further cemented his presence in major franchises through collaborations with his brother, director James Gunn. Notably, he played Kraglin Obfonteri and provided on-set physical performance capture for Rocket Raccoon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with “Guardians of the Galaxy” in 2014, and continuing through “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” (2017), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), “Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022), and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (2023). These roles showcased his versatility and contribution to critically and commercially successful projects.

In addition to his Marvel commitments, Gunn expanded his DC Universe involvement, portraying Weasel and Calendar Man in “The Suicide Squad” (2021) and reprising Weasel in the animated series “Creature Commandos” (2024), where he also voiced G.I. Robot. Looking ahead to 2025, he is cast as Maxwell Lord in the new “Superman” film, demonstrating his continued engagement with high-profile productions. Beyond acting, Gunn has also contributed as a writer and executive producer for projects like “James Gunn’s PG Porn” (2008–2009) and various short films, highlighting his diverse talents within the industry. His consistent career trajectory reflects a sustained presence in both mainstream and independent productions.
