Sean Pettit is widely regarded as one of the best skiers in the world. A professional since the age of 13, he has won numerous skiing competitions, appeared in countless films, and won plenty of industry awards. He is an entertainer as much as a skier and is popular on Instagram, with over 91,000 followers.
Pettit was born in Ottawa in July 1992. By the age of 12, skiing magazine Powder was calling him a “prodigy”. He turned pro the following year, being sponsored by Red Bull. That same year also saw him make his ski film debut, in a video called Pop Yer Bottlez. His big break came in 2008, when he landed a part in Claim, a film made by Matchstick Productions, field-leaders in exciting and innovative feature-length ski movies. He has since appeared in five further Matchstick films and documentaries, alongside a host of videos for other companies. After winning the 2009 Powder Video Award for Breakthrough Performer, Pettit dominated the awards for several years, winning the Best Man-Made Air and Best Natural Air awards and twice being named Best Male Performance, an award he also won at the IF3 Europe Awards.
Pettit has travelled the world to take part in competitions and has won several Red Bull events in France and British Columbia. In 2013, he competed at the Winter X Games, winning a silver medal. More recently, Pettit has added snowboarding to his list of talents, aiming to keep his love affair with the snow fresh by tackling it through a whole new discipline.
