Shannon Skanes, known affectionately as ‘The Hockey Guy’ is a Youtube star and hockey enthusiast. He’s so enthusiastic, in fact, that he updates his channel daily with thoughts on the NHL season, sometimes uploading multiple videos in one day. With over a hundred and seventy thousand subscribers to impress, Skanes has his hands full with making content for his fans.

Skanes began his channel back in 2015, becoming popular for his mostly unbiased views on hockey, though he does have several secret team favourites. Skanes is open about his obsession with the sport, admitting to owning hundreds of jerseys from various teams. His passion for the sport shows through his content and his hardcore fans tune in daily to hear what he has to say about a day in the sport. In 2018, Skanes decided to use his platform for good following the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, opting to host a yearly fundraiser for one of the victims, who had been a subscriber to Skanes’ channel. All of the proceeds from the fundraiser went straight to the victim’s old school to help disadvantaged children attend university.
