The brilliant Simon Brotherton is a sports commentator and broadcaster, who is best known for his work on the BBC’s Match of the Day, as well as for BBC Radio 5 Live, and BT Sport. Aside from football, he has also covered speed skating at the Olympics, the Paralympics for Channel 4, The Games for ITV, Formula 1, boxing, and the Tour de France.
Born and raised in England, Brotherton began his career in broadcasting while he was still at school gaining experience with BBC Local Radio. Then, while attending the University of Birmingham, he joined BBC WM. In the 1990s he started working for BBC TV and began commentating on the Premier League for Match of the Day and BBC Radio 5 Live. Over the years he has expanded his sports coverage portfolio to the Olympics, Formula 1 racing, the Tour de France, the Paralympics, Track Cycling, Speed Skating, boxing, and Major League Baseball.
