Skyler Jay

Skyler Jay is a transgender activist and speaker originating from the Southeastern United States. For over a decade, Jay has actively worked to enhance visibility, foster growth, and expand opportunities for transgender individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. His efforts extend to educating the public on trans issues and assisting in the organization of trans bodybuilding competitions. He operates with an ‘open book mentality,’ promoting an open learning environment for important dialogue on the transgender experience, covering both the challenges and achievements encountered as a visible transgender person.

Jay gained notable public recognition through his appearance on the Netflix series ‘Queer Eye.’ Following this, he engaged in a legal action against the Georgia state system to challenge and remove transgender-exclusionary healthcare policies, ultimately winning this case. This lawsuit significantly contributed to his platform as an advocate. His expertise encompasses transgender community visibility and education, diversity and inclusion, leadership, event coordination, team management and cohesion, and LGBTQIA+ community and youth development and outreach. A percentage of his booking fees are directed towards Aadya Rising’s annual Transgender surgery scholarship.

His work has led to several accolades, including the Community Leader Award at the Trans Advocacy Awards in 2019. He was also recognized as a hero on the Emmy award-winning Netflix show ‘Queer Eye’ and received the Outstanding Student Advocate Award from UGA. Additionally, he holds certificates in Supervisory Excellence and the Franklin Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective Manager’s, and has been a multiple-time recipient of Employee of the Year awards. Jay has been featured in various media outlets, including NBC interviews, OUT Magazine, Buzzfeed, Bloomberg, Them, Pinknews, Bustle, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
