Sofia Prosvirnova

Sofia Prosvirnova, born in 1997, is a short track speed skater who has represented the Russian Federation, Olympic Athlete from Russia, and ROC teams during her career. She made her Olympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, competing in the 500 meters, 1,000 meters, and the 3,000 meters Relay events. Her early career saw her participate in various international competitions, steadily building her expertise in the sport.

Throughout her career, Prosvirnova has achieved notable results in major championships. She earned multiple medals at the European Short Track Speed Skating Championships, including gold in the 3000m relay in 2015 and 2018, and gold in the 1000m in 2017 and 2019. She also secured silver and bronze medals in various distances and the Allround category at these championships. At the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, she obtained silver medals in the 1000m in 2018 and the 3000m relay in 2019, along with bronze medals in the 1500m in 2019 and the 3000m relay in 2016.

Prosvirnova continued her Olympic journey at the PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. In PyeongChang 2018, she achieved a 5th place finish in both the Women’s 500 meters and the Women’s 3,000 meters Relay. At Beijing 2022, she placed 7th in the Mixed Team Relay and the Women’s 3000m Relay. In 2019, she was named among the 10 Best Athletes of the Year by the Physical Education and Sports Committee of St. Petersburg.
