Sonya Hussyn

Sonya Hussyn Bukharee was born on July 15, 1996, in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, to a Sindhi family. Her father is engaged in construction works, and her mother is a homemaker. She began her acting career with a supporting role in the 2011 television series “Dareecha” and subsequently took on leading roles in various popular series. Her early career also included appearances in acclaimed productions like “Marasim” (2014) and “Nikah” (2015), where she demonstrated versatility in her performances. These initial projects laid the groundwork for her progression in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Hussyn’s career saw significant advancements with her performances in television series such as “Aisi Hai Tanhai” (2017) and “Tinkay Ka Sahara” (2022). “Aisi Hai Tanhai” earned her two Lux Style Award nominations, recognizing her work in the television sphere. She transitioned to the big screen with a supporting role as Amber in Jami’s film “Moor” (2015) and later took on a leading role in “Azaadi” (2018). Her filmography further expanded with roles in “Tich Button” (2022) and “Sorry: A Love Story” (2023). In August 2023, Sonya Hussyn was presented with the Icon Award by then-Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, acknowledging her contributions to the industry. She has also ventured into production, with her first short film “Babli & Babar” slated for 2025.

Throughout her career, Hussyn has been recognized for her acting across various genres. Her notable television works include “Mere Hamrahi,” “Mein Hari Piya,” and “Kitni Girhain Baaki Hain.” She has portrayed diverse characters, from Pakeeza Islam in “Aisi Hai Tanhai” to Safeena in “Meri Guriya.” Her film roles, including Shakeela in “Tich Button” and Haya Baloch in “Daadal” (2023), further highlight her range as an actress.
