Steve McClaren embarked on a multifaceted football career, transitioning from a professional player to a respected coach and manager across various prominent clubs and national teams. After being appointed assistant manager to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 1999, Steve McClaren immediately contributed to the club securing the historic Treble, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League in his first half-season. He continued this success, helping Manchester United clinch two additional Premier League titles in 2000 and 2001. Transitioning to his first managerial role, McClaren took the helm at Middlesbrough in 2001, where he made history by guiding the club to their first major trophy, the League Cup, in 2004.
In 2020, McClaren rejoined Derby County as Technical Director, a role he held until 2021, also serving as a part-time senior adviser for the club in 2021. Demonstrating his enduring value to top-tier football, Steve McClaren returned to Manchester United in July 2022 as part of the backroom coaching staff, a role he currently holds. Further extending his global impact, he was appointed Head Coach of the Jamaica national football team in July 2024, embarking on a new challenge to develop international talent.
