Steve Tyrell is a Grammy-award winning producer, vocalist, singer and songwriter with nearly five decades in the music business. Tyrell won a Grammy Award in 2004 for his work on Rod Stewart’s Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III album. As a record producer he has also worked with Diana Ross, Bonnie Raitt, Smokey Robinson, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Burt Bacharach and Ray Charles. He also won a Grammy for Gospel Album of the year in 1995 for his work with Andy Griffith and produced the classic comedy album Woody Allen – Stand Up Comic. As an artist he has enjoyed hits including ‘Crush on You’, ‘The Sunny Side of The Street’, ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ and ‘The Simple Life’, and has achieved nine top 5 albums on Billboard’s Jazz charts.
Tyrell has worked prolifically as a music producer and music supervisor in television and film, collaborating with the world’s most distinguished directors including Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Steven Soderbergh, Nancy Meyers and Hugh Wilson. He scored a No.1. hit on the Billboard Pop Charts with the track he wrote and produced for Aaron Spelling’s TV series The Heights, ‘How Do You Talk To An Angel’.
As a singer he has performed for numerous Heads of State, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Presidents Bush and Clinton, President Santos of Columbia and Prime Minister Tony Blair. He was also invited to Buckingham Palace with his band to perform for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
