Best known for his role in Scarface, Steven Bauer is an American actor who was born in Havana, Cuba. Bauer and his family left Cuba and immigrated to United States in 1960. Bauer grew up in Florida, where he also graduated from Miami Coral Park High School. Bauer went on to study acting at Miami Dade Community College and University of Miami. His first role was in the PBS bilingual sitcom Que Pasa USA?, where he played the teenage son of a Cuban exile family in Miami. Bauer played in this sitcom from 1977 to 1979. Bauer also appeared in the TV miniseries From Here to Eternity in 1980. In the following year, Bauer starred in the TV movie She’s in the Army Now, where he also met his first wife, famous actress Melanie Griffith. In 1983, Bauer was offered the role of Manny Ribera, for the movie Scarface. For his performance in Scarface, Bauer received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Bauer was also offered the roles in Running Scared, Sword of Gideon, Munich, Drug Wars: The Camarena Story, Primal Fear, Traffic and many more. Bauer also appeared in Breaking Bad in 2011. His most recent role was that of ex-Mossad agent in the Showtime series Ray Donovan. He also played his Breaking Bad role in AMC’s prequel Better Call Saul.
