SungWon Cho

Born on December 9, 1990, in Minnesota, United States, SungWon Cho later moved to DeWitt, Michigan, and his early interest in voice acting began in high school, where he lent his voice to various characters in a friend’s radio plays. He pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Media Information and Technology from Michigan State University, graduating in 2012. After graduation, he experienced a creative lull and taught English as a second language to Korean immigrant students. His career gained momentum when he started posting daily voice content on Tumblr in October 2012, eventually going viral with a video approximating the voice of Goofy singing “Let It Go” from Frozen. His distinctive vocal talents and comedic timing quickly garnered a dedicated online following.

Cho’s professional breakthrough in voice acting came after voice director Deven Mack discovered his YouTube videos and offered him an audition for the game ‘Apotheon,’ where he secured the role of the main villain, Zeus, in 2015. He maintained a strong presence on Vine until its shutdown in 2016 and was a finalist for the 9th Shorty Awards for Vine of the Year. Shifting his primary focus to YouTube, he expanded his audience, with his content frequently appearing on Reddit’s front page. His YouTube channel, which features intentionally low-budget comedy skits, unboxing videos, and reviews, has attracted over 3.96 million subscribers and 1.95 billion views, with much of his income generated through sponsorships and ad revenue. This organic growth allowed him to explore recurring universes and parody common gaming and anime tropes, showcasing his comedic range and creative vision.

His career progression saw him expand into numerous high-profile voice roles, including FL4K in ‘Borderlands 3’ (2019), Holst Sigiswald Goneril in ‘Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes,’ and Ratatoskr in ‘God of War Ragnarök.’ In 2017, he took on his first live-action main role as Detective Joe Furuya in Crunchyroll’s ‘Anime Crimes Division,’ earning a nomination for Best Acting in a Comedy at the 8th Streamy Awards. His talent caught the attention of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), which signed him in mid-2018, coinciding with his move to Los Angeles to further his voice acting career. In 2023, Cho made his live-action Hollywood debut in the film ‘BlackBerry,’ playing Ritchie Cheung.
