Taryn Manning’s breakthrough role as Nola in the 2005 film Hustle & Flow earned her a Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association Awards nomination for Best Breakthrough Performance, with the film also receiving a SAG Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast. Manning established her acting career with her film debut in Crazy/Beautiful (2001), followed by notable roles as Mimi in Crossroads (2002), Janeane in 8 Mile (2002), a part in White Oleander (2002), and a role in Cold Mountain (2003). Her early television appearances in the late 1990s included roles in The Practice, Get Real, and NYPD Blue.
In 2017, her solo single ‘Gltchlfe’ peaked at number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs Chart. Most recently, Manning starred in the film Karen (2022), which garnered Golden Raspberry Award nominations for Worst Picture and Worst Actress. She has also made appearances in music videos for Butch Walker’s ‘The Weight Of Her’ (2008) and will.i.am’s ‘Yes We Can’ (2008), and co-owns the clothing brand ‘Born Uniqorn.’
