Thomas Ford

Thomas Ford, born on October 3, 1992, in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England, was introduced to rowing through his family, with both older brothers participating and his sister Emily joining the GB women’s squad. His early inspiration came from Olympic champion Matt Langridge, who visited his school and shared his Olympic journey and medals, sparking Ford’s ambition. After graduating from Newcastle University in 2015, he further pursued his rowing career by joining Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames, transitioning to full-time training.

Ford made his debut with the GB Rowing Team in 2017. He achieved significant milestones early in his senior career, including a bronze medal at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in the coxless four and a silver medal at the 2019 European Rowing Championships in the men’s eight. His Olympic debut was at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games, where he secured a bronze medal in the men’s eight alongside his sister Emily, making them the only brother and sister duo to represent Team GB in two consecutive games.

His career continued to flourish with notable achievements. Ford became a World Champion in 2022 and 2023, stroking the men’s eight to back-to-back titles. He also played a key role in European Championship successes, winning gold in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. A highlight of his career was winning a gold medal in the Men’s eight at the Paris 2024 Olympic Rowing Regatta. His consistent performance and leadership in the men’s eight have cemented his status as a decorated athlete in the sport.
