In April 2008, at 15, she uploaded her first song to YouTube, marking the beginning of her online presence. She completed high school in three years in 2010 and subsequently decided to focus on her music career rather than immediately pursuing college. Prior to her career in music, Alvord was a gymnast for nine years, competing for four of those years until an injury ended her participation in the sport.
Alvord has cultivated a substantial online following, establishing herself as one of YouTube’s initial “home-grown celebrities.” Her YouTube channel has accumulated over 705 million video views and more than 3.15 million subscribers. Her social media presence extends beyond YouTube, with over 2.6 million Facebook fans and more than 350 thousand Twitter followers. In December 2012, she performed on the Nivea stage in Times Square as part of New Year’s Eve celebrations, sharing the stage with artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Train, PSY, and Taylor Swift. Her career has included performances in numerous international locations, including Canada, England, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Throughout her career, Alvord has released multiple albums, including original music and cover compilations. Her original albums include “My Dream” (2011), “My Heart Is” (2012), and “Legacy” (2014). She also released several volumes of cover songs, such as “I’ve Got It Covered,” “I’ve Got It Covered Vol. 2,” and “I’ve Got It Covered Vol. 3.” In 2012, Alvord won first place in an ArtistSignal competition, receiving a $25,000 grand prize.
