Sensational Australian BMX athlete Todd Meyn is at the forefront of his sport. Born in Perth, he began riding as a child, and after a formative trip to America in his early teens, began placing highly in professional competitions, bringing the kudos of both recognition and major sponsorship deals. He currently rides for Nitro Circus, a long-established American brand. His YouTube channel has nearly 4000 subscribers, but his main way of connecting with his fans is through his official Instagram account, which boasts over 64,000 followers. Here, Meyn interacts with his fans and posts videos and reels of some of his best tricks. When he’s not in the saddle, Meyn is the founder and owner of DD Airbags, a range of huge, inflatable crash mats aimed at professional athletes.
Meyn first turned professional in 2012, meaning he has spent almost a decade travelling the globe, competing, winning, living his dream, but also giving back by helping to train and encourage the next generation of emerging riders. He has been with Nitro Circus the whole time, a remarkable testament to the loyalty of both parties — and many sportspeople will attest to the scarcity of such loyalty once one reaches the top of the ladder in their field. In 2018, he set up DD Airbags, which has grown from strength to strength and looks like being a strong and innovative player in the field, with endorsements from several big names in the professional BMX world.
But whatever his personal achievements, Meyn’s number-one goal remains nurturing fresh BMX talent through his Ride N Guide scheme, which looks to built action sports communities.
