The dedicated and driven sportsman Torii Hunter Jr. is a professional baseball player with the Los Angeles Angels of the MLB. He is the talented son of baseball legend Torii Hunter who famously pitched for the Minnesota Twins between 1997 and 2007.
Born and raised in Texas, Hunter Jr. is the son of the baseball legend Torii Hunter who most famously played in Major League Baseball for the Minnesota Twins. He proved to be just as talented on the baseball diamond as his father, as well as being pretty prolific in college football, too. At 6ft and weighing 195 pounds, Hunter Jr. played baseball and football at the University of Notre Dame. On the diamond, as an outfielder like his father, he hit .167 with two doubles and an RBI across 23 games. While on the football field he caught 73 passes for 939 yards and six touchdowns for the Fighting Irish. He also ran for 29 yards on seven carries and had a 35-yard pass.
Hunter Jr. finally decided to follow in his father’s career footsteps when he was picked by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2016 MLB draft. He began playing minor league ball in 2017, and hit .352 with a home run, 28 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, and 10 doubles in rookie ball that year. Across two levels of minor league play in 2018, he hit .264 with two home runs and 28 RBIs, but he stole another 29 bases. He hit .248 in 77 minor league games in 2019. He played for the Inland Empire 66ers, before being assigned back to the Angels in March 2020. In November he was assigned to the Rocket City Trash Pandas until May 2021 when he was assigned briefly to the Salt Lake Bees before returning to the Pandas.
