Tremont Waters was born on January 10, 1998, in New Haven, Connecticut. He began his basketball career at South Kent School before transferring to Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Connecticut, for his senior year. During his high school tenure, he was recognized as the 2017 Gatorade and Register State Player of the Year in Connecticut. Waters committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) for college. His collegiate career with the LSU Tigers from 2017 to 2019 was marked by significant achievements, including breaking the school record for freshman assists and earning multiple All-SEC honors. He recorded career highs of 39 points against Marquette in 2017 and 11 assists on three occasions, showcasing his capabilities as both a scorer and a playmaker. He became the 42nd player to score 1,000 career points in an NCAA Tournament game against Maryland in 2019.
Waters entered the 2019 NBA Draft and was selected as the 51st overall pick by the Boston Celtics. His professional journey has included stints with various NBA teams, including the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards, often splitting time with their G League affiliates like the Maine Red Claws, Wisconsin Herd, and South Bay Lakers. During his time with the Maine Red Claws, he was named the NBA G League Rookie of the Year in 2020.
