Trinity Lemyra Thomas was born on April 7, 2001, in York, Pennsylvania. She began her gymnastics training in 2008, a relatively late start for an elite-level gymnast, at the age of seven. Training at Skyline Gymnastics in York, she became the Pennsylvania state champion for Level 7 in the all-around and on all four pieces in 2011. The following year, she skilled Level 8 to compete as a Level 9 gymnast, placing second at the 2012 Regionals. In 2012, at the Level 9 Eastern Championship in Maryland, she finished fourth in the all-around.
Her career progressed with a move to Artistic Sports Academy Plus (ASAP) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 2013, where she advanced to Level 10, the highest level of the USAG program. She placed third at States and ninth at Regionals, qualifying for the J.O. NIT competition. At this event in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Thomas finished fourth in the all-around and was the National Champion on floor. In 2014, after moving to Prestige Gymnastics in Lancaster, she competed in three events at the Pennsylvania State Championships. Thomas qualified as a Junior International Elite gymnast in February 2015 through her performance in the WOGA Classic Elite Qualifier.
Thomas made her senior international debut in 2017 at the City of Jesolo Trophy, helping the USA secure first place. She later placed fourth in the all-around at the 2017 U.S. National Gymnastics Championships and was named to the senior national team. In 2018, she earned a silver medal at the Tokyo World Cup and committed to the University of Florida’s gymnastics team. She was a member of the gold medal-winning team at the 2018 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, where she also secured silver medals in the individual all-around and on uneven bars. Thomas competed in both NCAA and elite gymnastics simultaneously in 2019, ultimately joining the Florida Gators. She concluded her collegiate career as one of the most successful NCAA gymnasts, with a record-tying 28 perfect-10 scores and a record-breaking five Gym Slams, achieving perfect 10s on every apparatus. She was named SEC Athlete of the Year in 2023.
