Tucker Max

Tucker Max, born on September 27, 1975, in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American author and public speaker. He gained initial prominence by chronicling his life experiences in short story form on his website, TuckerMax.com, which he launched in 2000. Max graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Law, Letters, and Society in 1998, and later earned a J.D. from Duke Law School in 2001 on an academic scholarship. His candid writing style led to significant recognition, culminating in his first major published work, “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell,” which became a #1 New York Times Bestseller. This book appeared on the Best Seller List each year from 2006 to 2012, selling over one million copies worldwide, including 400,000 in 2009. The book was adapted into a feature film of the same title in 2009. His subsequent books, “Assholes Finish First” (2010), “Hilarity Ensues” (2012), and “Sloppy Seconds: The Tucker Max Leftovers,” cemented his position in the literary world. He was recognized as a Time 100 finalist based on internet votes in 2009. Following his success as an author, Max co-founded Scribe Media in August 2014 with Zach Obront. The company provides services to entrepreneurs and executives, assisting them in writing and publishing their own books, effectively disrupting traditional publishing models. In this role, he has enabled numerous individuals to become authors, including ghostwriting Tiffany Haddish’s memoir, “The Last Black Unicorn,” which debuted on The New York Times best-seller list in 2017. He also published “The Scribe Method” in 2019, detailing his process for non-fiction authors. In December 2021, Max stepped away from Scribe Media. He currently resides near Austin, Texas, with his wife, Veronica, and their four children, marking a notable shift from his earlier lifestyle themes.
