Tytus Howard

Tytus Howard is an offensive tackle for the Houston Texans, recognized for his contributions to professional football and his inspirational journey from Alabama State University to the NFL. After being drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round as the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Tytus Howard made history as the first player from Alabama State to achieve this distinction, following a collegiate career with the Alabama State Hornets from 2014 to 2018. During his rookie season in 2019, Howard showcased his versatility on the offensive line by starting eight games, with seven at right tackle and one at left guard, a performance that earned him a coveted spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Howard continued his impactful career with the Houston Texans, starting the first 14 games at right tackle during the 2020 season before being placed on injured reserve in December of that year.

His consistent contributions and unwavering dedication were further recognized when he was named the NFLPA’s 2023 Black College Football Pro Player of the Year. While a season-ending knee injury in Week 12 of 2023 again placed him on injured reserve in November, Howard has consistently exemplified resilience and unwavering dedication throughout his professional journey.
