Tytus Howard

Tytus Howard, born on May 23, 1996, in Monroeville, Alabama, embarked on his professional football career after playing college football for the Alabama State Hornets from 2014 to 2018. His journey led him to be drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round as the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, making him the first player from Alabama State to achieve this distinction. During his rookie season in 2019, Tytus Howard started eight games, with seven at right tackle and one at left guard, showcasing his versatility on the offensive line. His performance earned him a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Howard continued his career with the Houston Texans, starting the first 14 games at right tackle in the 2020 season before being placed on injured reserve in December of that year. The Texans demonstrated their commitment to Howard by picking up the fifth-year option on his contract in May 2022. Further solidifying his role with the team, he agreed to a three-year, $56 million contract extension with the Texans on July 26, 2023, which included $36.5 million guaranteed.

Despite facing injuries, including a broken hand in practice in September 2023, which led to him being placed on injured reserve and later activated in October, Howard has consistently been a key part of the Houston Texans’ offensive line. However, a season-ending knee injury in Week 12 of 2023 again placed him on injured reserve in November.
