About

Veronica Webb, born February 25, 1965, in Detroit, Michigan, is the youngest of three daughters. Her father worked as an electrician, and her mother was an emergency room nurse, both decorated U.S. Army veterans. Webb graduated from Detroit’s Waldorf School in 1983. The same year, she moved to New York City to study design at Parsons School of Design. Her modeling career began after a makeup artist discovered her while she was working as a cashier in a SoHo housewares boutique. This marked the beginning of a long and influential career in the fashion industry.

Webb rose to international prominence as a supermodel, frequently appearing on the covers of major fashion magazines such as Vogue, Essence, and Elle. She became a favored runway model for notable designers including Gianni Versace, Azzedine Alaïa, Isaac Mizrahi, and Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. A significant milestone in her career occurred in 1992 when she made history as the first Black model to secure an exclusive cosmetics contract with Revlon. This partnership expanded industry definitions of beauty and contributed to greater representation in the field. Beyond modeling, Webb has also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as “Malcolm X” (1992), “54” (1998), “In Too Deep” (1999), and “Zoolander” (2001), as well as television series like “Just Shoot Me!” (1997), “Damon” (1998), “The West Wing” (2000), and “Becker” (2001).

In addition to her work in front of the camera, Webb has developed a career as a writer and cultural commentator. She has contributed essays to reputable publications including The New York Times, Elle, and Interview, where her writing explores themes of beauty, wellness, and modern science through personal storytelling and self-discovery. Her commentary also extended to television, with recurring appearances on “Good Morning America” as a cultural correspondent. Webb has been married to Christopher Dean Del Gatto since March 23, 2013, and is a mother of two children. She maintains an active lifestyle, including running several marathons, focusing on strength and longevity. Her multifaceted career continues to bridge fashion, culture, and health, inspiring discussions on aging with strength and living authentically.
