Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen is a Norwegian two-time World Champion biathlete who has been storming the competitive scene since 2012/13. He has represented Norway twice in World Championships and four times in European Championships.
Before Christiansen had even turned seventeen, he was making a clean sweep at the Junior Norwegian Championships and had already nabbed four gold medals, winning the Norwegian Biathlon Cup in his age category. He also won two golds in the Junior Norwegian Summer Biathlon Championships in 2008. Christiansen continued to win junior titles, nabbing countless medals including two silvers, two bronzes and two golds at the 2010 Junior Norwegian Summer Championships, paving the way for an incredible professional career.
In 2012, Christiansen competed at the Norwegian Summer Biathlon Championships, making his debut in the senior group and quickly picking up two bronze medals in two days. In the 2013-14 Olympic season, Christianson joined the elite team for the first time and inevitably picked up two medals, including silver in both the pursuit and sprint.
He saw continued success for the rest of the season including finishing 15th in the sprint in Hochfilzen; marking his best individual finish of the season.
Christianson left the national biathlon team ahead of the 2015–16 season, due to medical reasons and joined a private biathlon team called Team Norgesbakeriet. Today Christianson has certainly made his mark as a strong, determined biathlete with an insatiable thirst for triumph.
