Vicky Ward

Victoria Penelope Jane Ward was born on July 3, 1969, in Chelmsford, England. She earned both a BA and MA in English literature from Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Before relocating to the United States, Ward worked as a columnist and feature writer for The Independent. Her career took her to New York City in 1997, where she was involved with the New York Post and served as Tina Brown’s editor at Talk magazine. Throughout the 2000s, Ward established herself as a prominent investigative journalist, contributing to Vanity Fair with detailed stories on subjects such as Hewlett Packard’s CEO Carly Fiorina and Kate Middleton. Her 2003 profile of Jeffrey Epstein for Vanity Fair became a significant piece, though she later revealed that certain critical on-the-record accounts were removed under pressure.

In 2010, Ward published her first book, “The Devil’s Casino,” which focused on the collapse of Lehman Brothers. She continued to contribute to a wide array of publications, including the Financial Times, The New York Times, Esquire, the London Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Spectator, and British Vogue. In July 2017, she became editor-at-large for HuffPost and Huffington Post Highline, where she reported on figures like Erik Prince and Michael Cohen. Her 2019 book, “Kushner, Inc.,” investigated Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, earning her further recognition. In July 2019, Ward joined CNN as a Senior Reporter and later became editor-at-large at Town & Country magazine. Her expertise is further acknowledged through her membership in the Council on Foreign Relations since June 2020 and her appointment as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford in September 2023.

Ward has co-authored books with James Patterson, including “The Idaho Four: An American Tragedy,” published in 2025. They also announced a forthcoming book about the killing of Brian Thompson. Her work consistently focuses on in-depth reporting and exposing complex narratives. Outside of her professional life, Ward became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2017. Her portrait, taken by Jason Bell, was exhibited in the British National Portrait Gallery in 2011.
