The fabulous Vincent Poirier is a center/power forward professional basketball player with Real Madrid Basket, and the French National team. He has been named Best rebounder of the Espoirs championship: 2013–14, and EuroLeague rebounding leader: 2018-19. And he won a Bronze medal with France at the FIBA World Cup in China 2019.
Born and raised in Clamart, France, Poirier started playing basketball in 2010 at the age of 17 at the Bussy Basket Club. In the 2013–14 season, he finished as the top rebounder of the Espoirs championship, averaging 12 points and 10.8 rebounds in 27 minutes over 30 games. Later in 2014 he signed a three-year deal with Paris-Levallois, and was loaned to Hyères-Toulon of the Pro B league. For the 2015–16 season, he returned to Paris-Levallois, and that summer he participated in the NBA Summer League with Orlando Magic, averaging over five matches an impressive 4.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.4 blocks in 11.5 minutes per game. In 2017 he signed a three-year deal with Baskonia of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague, and by the 2018–19 season, he had led the EuroLeague in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game. Poirier earned a spot in the All-EuroLeague Second Team in 2019. He then made a move to America, and after playing with the Boston Celtics, and then the Philadelphia 76ers, he returned to Europe in 2021, signing with the Best FIBA Team in History and 10-time European Champions, Real Madrid.
