Viviana Márton, born on February 16, 2006, in Tenerife, Spain, is a Hungarian Taekwondo athlete. Her early exposure to combat sports stemmed from her father, Zsolt Márton, a former kickboxer in Budapest, while her mother, Barbara Márton, played handball. The family relocated to Madrid in 2018, where Viviana began training at the Hankuk club under the guidance of Finnish Olympic Taekwondo practitioner Suvi Mikkonen. Márton’s career progression has been marked by early success in junior circuits, transitioning effectively to senior competitions.
Viviana Márton’s competitive journey saw her win the 2021 European Junior Taekwondo Championships in Sarajevo, securing gold in the -63 kg division. She continued this trajectory by winning gold at the Junior European Championships in Tallinn in August 2023, again in the -63 kg category. A significant milestone occurred in November 2023 when she won the 2023 European U21 Taekwondo Championships -62 kg title in Bucharest, notably defeating her twin sister, Luana Márton, in the final. In 2024, Márton transferred to Újpesti TE in Budapest, Hungary. She qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games and earned a gold medal in the Women’s -67 kg category, defeating Aleksandra Perišić of Serbia in the final.
Her achievements include a bronze medal at the 2025 Belgian Open and a gold medal at the G2 German Open in Hamburg in the 62 kg weight class in 2025. During the German Open, she won all her bouts in straight rounds, dispatching opponents including Greece’s Sarvanaki, and Turkey’s Senyurt and Cakal, before defeating the top-seeded Czech athlete Stolbova in the final. These performances underscore her consistent excellence and position as a prominent figure in women’s taekwondo.
