About

Paul Wade Bowen, born in 1977 in Waco, Texas, developed an early affinity for music, influenced by gospel hymns and classic country artists like Willie Nelson and George Strait. His formative years were steeped in a religious and close-knit family environment, with his mother serving as a church pianist and his father’s musical preferences shaping his understanding of storytelling. Bowen attended Texas Tech University, where he studied public relations and marketing. During his time there, he co-founded the band West 84 with Matt Miller, which gained local popularity.

Bowen transitioned to a solo career, releasing his debut album, “Try Not To Listen,” in 2001, which achieved regional success within Texas. This album established him as a significant presence in the Texas music scene, known for his ability to merge traditional country themes with contemporary influences. Subsequent studio albums included “Lost Hotel” (2006) and “If We Ever Make It Home” (2008). In 2010, he released “The Given,” his first album with a major label, BNA Records. Following the closure of BNA Records, Bowen returned to independent releases. Collaborations have been a significant part of his career, notably with Randy Rogers, resulting in the “Hold My Beer” series of albums starting in 2015.

His career progression also includes navigating personal challenges, such as a health scare in 2018 that affected his vocal abilities. He addressed this period in his 2020 solo album, “The Waiting.” Beyond music, Bowen is recognized for his philanthropic efforts through The Bowen Family Foundation, which supports children and families in Central Texas. His later works include “Somewhere Between the Secret and the Truth” (2022), featuring collaborations with artists like Lori McKenna and Vince Gill, and “Flyin'” (2024), further solidifying his reputation for authentic country music.
