Wanya Morris

Wanya Jermaine Morris was born on July 29, 1973, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His musical career began in 1987 when he joined the R&B group Unique Attraction, which later became known as Boyz II Men. As a freshman in high school, Morris became a permanent member of the group, contributing his distinctive tenor vocals to their signature harmonies. The group signed with Motown Records in 1991, leading to the release of their debut album, “Cooleyhighharmony.” This album marked the beginning of Boyz II Men’s rapid ascent on music charts, establishing Morris as a prominent figure in contemporary R&B.

Throughout the 1990s, Morris, alongside Boyz II Men, achieved widespread success with numerous chart-topping hits. Notable songs include “I’ll Make Love to You” (1994) and “Water Runs Dry” (1995). A significant milestone was the 1996 collaboration with Mariah Carey on the single “One Sweet Day,” which set records for its sustained chart performance. Beyond his work with Boyz II Men, Morris also engaged in other projects, including performing with Black Men United for the single “U Will Know” in 1994, featured on the “Jason’s Lyric” soundtrack. His vocal talents were also showcased in a duet with Brandy on the hit song “Brokenhearted” in 1994 and with Mariah Carey on “I’ll Be There” in 1995.

Morris has also expanded his presence into television and film. In 2016, he participated in the twenty-second season of “Dancing with the Stars,” reaching the semifinals and finishing in fourth place. His television appearances also include roles in “The Odd Couple” (2016), “Whose Line is it Anyway?” (2017), “Hollywood Darlings” (2017), and “To Tell the Truth” (2017). He appeared in the film “Long Shot” (2019) and on “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” (2021). In 2024, Morris further demonstrated his expertise by appearing on “Pawn Stars” to authenticate Boyz II Men memorabilia. He continues to tour with Boyz II Men as of 2025 and has also formed a boy band, WanMor, with his four sons.
