Ward Davis is an American singer and songwriter from Monticello, Arkansas by way of Nashville, Tennesse. From a young age, Davis knew he wanted to achieve great things and decided to move early on in his career to Nashville. Although he had established a reputation within his hometown, Monticello, Davis wanted more. He describes this experience as ‘mostly really hard’, feeling very ‘disheartened’. This experience happened simultaneously with his realization that he didn’t find the passion in mainstream music, forcing him to take the independent route. For obvious reasons, the independent route can often be harsh and challenging, but much to our (the fans) liking and his final products, it was clearly the right decision.
Davis knows how to write country songs the proper way. Forget about the mainstream, mushy and censored country music. Davis brings to us honest, raw and passionate country inspired by the true Appalachian folk culture. Davis embodies the true people-music that country is, which over time has been washed away for a blue jean fantasy world that doesn’t appeal to many. His latest album ‘Black Cats and Crows’ is full of passionate, real songs. On ‘Good and Drunk’, Davis touches upon divorce, regret, alcohol and his true unfiltered emotions. For any country fan, or any music fan for that matter, Davis is must-listen to artist.
