The 1980s was a glamorous decade, and Yasmin Le Bon was one of its top supermodels. Today, more than 35 years after she first hit the runway and magazine front covers, she is still as busy as ever, modelling for the likes of luxury womenswear brand Winser and making cameos in videos by Duran Duran (the band of her rock-star husband, Simon). To date, she has appeared on more than 300 magazine covers, including numerous editions of Elle, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar. She has been photographed by just about every major fashion photographer of our time and has starred in campaigns for Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, and a great many others.
Le Bon was born Yasmin Parvaneh to Iranian and English parents in Oxford in 1964. After leaving school in the early 1980s, she was signed up by London’s Model 1 Agency — who still represent her today. She was already beginning to make waves when she met Simon Le Bon, frontman of Duran Duran, one of the biggest bands in the world at the time. Together, they became a power couple, with Yasmin becoming one of the world’s most in-demand supermodels.
Despite the many changes in fashion since she arrived on the scene, Le Bon has never fallen out of favour and remains something of a household name where supermodels are concerned. She is popular on social media and has over 55,000 followers on Instagram where she regularly posts updates about her professional and family life.
