Ruby Bhogal shares Pride-inspired recipe

The star baker and GBBO finalist shows her support for the LGBTQ+ community with a stunning batch of rainbow doughnuts.

Ruby’s been keeping busy throughout the ongoing lockdown by contributing some gorgeous recipes to GQ Online, and helping adventurous new brands promote new products on her ever-popular Instagram account. Her latest culinary adventure sees her celebrating Pride in the best way she knows how: through baking. Cooking up a batch of brilliantly colourful Pride-themed doughnuts for the end of Pride month last week, she sent her love to the LGBTQ+ community and shared the recipe – why not brighten up your day and have a go at cooking these yourself?

To celebrate Pride, some of my most gorgeously inspiring friends (don’t think I need to name no names but cough cough @antony_amourdoux 👀🥰) and the beautiful LGBTQ+ community – I thought I’d remake my rainbow doughnuts, which I failed miserably at during Bake Off, in honour of 🌈⁣ ⁣ The recipe has been tweaked so I can assure you these doughnuts actually taste of something this time round. 5 doughnuts down and it’s safe to say they are a winner. Sure they are a little scruffy round the edges and slightly messy but aren’t we bloody all 🤷🏻‍♀️⁣ ⁣ To give them a go, you will need:⁣ ⁣ • Dough⁣ 10g Dried yeast⁣ 90g Caster Sugar⁣ 550g Strong White Flour⁣ 320ml Full Fat Milk, warm⁣ 80g Unsalted Butter, softened⁣ 1 Egg, Large⁣ 12 Cardamom Pods, ground⁣ 1 Large Orange, zest of⁣ 1tsp Vanilla Bean Paste/Extract⁣ ⁣ • Base Glaze⁣ 250g Icing Sugar⁣ 70ml Milk⁣ 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract⁣ ⁣ • Chocolate Rainbow⁣ 300g White chocolate⁣ 10g Liquid Glucose⁣ Cocoa Butter Colouring x ⁣ ⁣ • To Fry⁣ Vegetable Oil⁣ ⁣ I’m going to pop the method in my stories (and then add to my highlights) because it’s quite a lengthy one so check it there if you fancy it.⁣ ⁣ It might be the end of Pride month but never the end of celebrating and feeling proud of who you are.
