Christmas TV 2017 what’s on your screen | MN2S

What Christmas Special would you be watching this year?

Is there any better feeling than that first flick through the Christmas edition of the Radio Times? It’s truly a signifier that the festive season is well and truly on its way, and cosy evenings watching Christmas TV on the sofa with the people you love aren’t far away.

As one of the biggest times of year for our broadcasters, it’s critical for them to get it right – so they go all out on big budget blockbusters and Christmas specials of family favourites. We’ve picked out some of the biggest Christmas TV this year, and some stars on the books at entertainment agencies like ours who fans might like to book!

Doctor Who

Always one of the biggest events of the holiday season, Doctor Who is an even bigger deal than usual this year. With current showrunner Steven Moffat handing over to Chris Chibnall, best known as the writer of Broadchurch, and Peter Capaldi handing over the baton to Jodie Whittaker, it’s set to draw a huge audience.

If you’d like to capitalise on the popularity of Doctor Who and hire a celebrity involved with the show, why not take a look at Otis Deley’s profile? He’s done audio work for several Doctor Who spinoffs that dedicated fans will recognise.

Eastenders

This year’s Eastenders Christmas story arc is as dramatic as one would expect from Walford. Max is becoming increasingly unhinged – he’s seeking revenge on Ian and Phil and will stop at nothing. His on-screen daughters have been confirmed to be leaving the show, and Eastenders says that we’ll see an: “ultimate downfall in an apocalyptic scale that will destroy the Branning family forever”. Crikey!

Getting a former Eastenders star to appear at your event will have stars of the soap rubbing their hands with glee. Book Sid Owen – the actor who played Ricky Butcher – to get the inside gossip from his 25 years in the soaps.

Sports personality of the year

Always one of the highlights of the TV schedule for British sports fans, the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year award will air on Sunday 17th December this year. In the running are such luminaries as Mo Farah, Lewis Hamilton, Chris Froome and Jonnie Peacock.

On our books we have Andy Murray, the greatest British tennis player of a generation. He’s won Olympic Medals and Grand Slam tournaments aplenty, and is one of our country’s most recognisable sportsmen. An appearance at your event could add some real star quality – and he won’t be short of achievements to talk about if you book him as an after dinner speaker!
