About

André Tanneberger, born on February 26, 1973, in Freiberg, East Germany, began his musical journey with the dance project Sequential One (SQ-1) in February 1993, releasing their debut single “Let Me Hear You.” This early success provided him with the resources to establish a mini-studio. Sequential One grew into a band in 1994, adding Ulrich Pöppelbaum, Woody van Eyden, and vocalist Morpha. Their first album, “Dance,” was released in early 1995. The project gained recognition in Germany and parts of Europe with their second album, “Energy.” By 1998, Woody van Eyden and Morpha left the group, and Sequential One eventually ceased to exist in 1999, shortly after the release of their final single “Angels” and the compilation album “Decades.”

In 1998, Tanneberger launched his solo project as ATB. His debut track, “9 PM (Till I Come),” featured on the album “Movin’ Melodies,” became a number one single on the UK Singles Chart in 1999. The track’s distinctive synthesized slide guitar riff became a hallmark of his early work. He continued to release successful singles, including “Don’t Stop!” and “Killer.” His second studio album, “Two Worlds,” released in 2000, was a double-disc project exploring different musical moods, featuring collaborations with artists like Heather Nova. ATB’s third album, “Dedicated” (2002), included hits such as “Hold You” and “You’re Not Alone.” In 2002, ATB successfully sued ATC’s record label, leading to the band changing its name to ‘A Touch of Class.’

ATB’s career progression included a series of successful albums such as “Addicted to Music” (2003), which also led to his first DVD release. “No Silence” (2004) featured hits like “Ecstasy” and “Marrakech,” with the latter being part of the “Mindhunters” film soundtrack. The compilation album “Seven Years” (2005) included his singles and new tracks. Subsequent albums like “Trilogy” (2007), “Future Memories” (2009), “Distant Earth” (2011), “Contact” (2014), and “neXt” (2017) showcased his evolving sound, incorporating more vocals and varied elements. He consistently ranked in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs, reaching No. 9 in 2005 and No. 11 in 2009 and 2010. In 2021, a remake of “9 PM (Till I Come)” titled “Your Love (9PM)” with Topic and A7S charted in Germany and the UK. ATB announced in May 2024 that his 2025 album would be his last, citing changes in the music industry, but confirmed he would continue releasing singles and touring.
