Florian Harres, known professionally as Phace, was born on March 7th in Germany and has established himself as a prominent figure in electronic music since 2004. Based in Hamburg, he is recognized for his distinctive, futuristic sound design and songwriting. His musical influences span a wide range, including Kraftwerk, The Prodigy, Miles Davis, and Photek. Phace’s production work utilizes both analog and digital equipment in his studio located in Hamburg Altona. His diverse musical output primarily includes drum and bass, alongside techno, electro, halftempo, and bass music. He also composes music for film and video games and has remixed various tracks. Phace is also one half of the German electronic band project Neosignal, collaborating with Michael Bräuninger (Misanthrop).
Phace’s career milestones began early, as he was voted Germany’s “Best Drum and Bass DJ & Producer” at the Future Music Awards in 2006. His debut album, “PSYCHO,” released in 2007 on Subtitles Music, was recognized as Album of the Month by British Mixmag Magazine. In 2008, he co-founded Neosignal Records with Misanthrop, further cementing his influence in the electronic music scene. The Neosignal project debuted its electro audio-visual live show, based on Ableton Live, at London’s Fabric Night Club in 2013, demonstrating an evolving approach to live performance. Throughout his career, Phace has released five full-length studio albums, with his 2018 album, “BETWEEN,” released on Neosignal Recordings, also receiving Album of the Month honors from Mixmag Magazine in August 2018.
Phace continues to be a significant artist in electronic music, frequently performing at international festivals such as EDC, Beyond Wonderland, Let it Roll, Frequency, Outlook, and Dour. His work has been released on various respected labels, including Skrillex’s OWSLA, Zeds Dead’s DEADBEATS, Deadmau5’s Mau5trap, Kitsuné, Noisia’s Vision and Division, Critical Music, and Shogun Audio. He currently co-owns two record labels, Neosignal and NËU MUSIC, which serve as platforms for his own work and that of other artists. His latest album, “Everyday,” released on Deadbeats, reflects personal growth and a broader musical palette, inspired by fatherhood and the pandemic, showcasing his continued evolution as a producer who embraces diverse genres and self-mastery in his production process.
