Ahi

Ahkinoah Habah Izarh, known as AHI, is a Canadian singer-songwriter born in Brampton, Ontario. He established himself in the music industry with his debut album, “We Made It Through the Wreckage,” released in 2016. In 2017, AHI received recognition by winning the Canadian Songwriting Competition in the folk category and the Stingray Rising Star Award at the Folk Music Ontario conference. His career continued to advance when he signed with Thirty Tigers, leading to the release of his sophomore album, “In Our Time,” in 2018. This album earned him his first Juno Award nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2019.

AHI’s commitment to his artistic and business vision led him and his wife, Ahshatèn Izarh, to co-found the independent record label 22ND SENTRY Ltd. This move allowed them to manage AHI’s career independently, leveraging support from programs like the Ontario Creates’ Music Futures and Ontario Music Investment Fund. His 2021 album, “Prospect,” resulted in another Juno Award nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2022 and was longlisted for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize. AHI has released music that has charted on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon, and his work has been featured by major brands.

Throughout his career, AHI has performed at notable events, including NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, which he considers a significant highlight. His music has garnered international praise from publications such as Billboard (US) and Rolling Stone (Germany). He continues to connect with audiences through his heartfelt folk sound, aiming to create music that impacts people’s lives. His latest album, “The Light Behind the Sun,” was released in 2025, further solidifying his position as an impactful artist in the folk music landscape.
